Here's some questions to consider your first session with any counsellor.
☼ Do I feel comfortable?
☼ Am I able to talk freely about my vulnerable thoughts and emotions?
☼ Is the Counsellor attentive?
☼ Do I feel understood & respected?
☼ Does the counsellor have an understanding of what will be helpful for you going forward?
As you reflect on your first session consider the answers to these questions. It's important you feel comfortable and confident with your counsellor and that you develop (or sense you can develop) a good connection going forward. This helps us share openly and honestly and make progress in the your counselling journey.
